Caroline Rothwell- Great Southern Reef Cabinet

Great Southern Reef Cabinet is a new work that represents a museum cabinet holding seaweed and kelp treasures from the Great Southern Reef, a globally unique biodiversity hotspot, with over 1,500 seaweed species. This cabinet represents a double-edged space where the containment of the ecosystem into the human environment speaks to the potential for destruction as well as for understanding and awareness of the Great Southern Reef, an interconnected underwater system that follows 8000 km of Australia’s southern coast.
