Dylan Mooney-The Oceans are rising, so are we

This work was created in collaboration with Ben & Jerry’s, 350 Australia and Our Islands, Our Home. The works speaks about the climate change and rising sea levels happening within the Torres Strait Islands. The islands are at the forefront of worsening impacts of climate change as sea levels threaten families homes, erosion, crops and wasting away of sacred grounds. Working closely with Our Islands, Our Home the artwork depicts community and the landscape in the Torres Strait Islands. The work depicted reflects the fight against climate change, putting community and families to the front of the fight, Depicting the threats of rising sea levels and impacts to homes and the islands. And fears of having to move away from the islands weee one of the issues raised. The colours reflect island life up in the Torres Strait Islands and traditional designs with sea wildlife are depicted to convey the loss of totems, food and cultural knowledge should sea levels continue to impact the islands.
